Skegness is all geared up for this year’s Skegness Illuminations Summer Switch On, this year performed by Jake Quickenden on Saturday 8th August. There will be lots going on throughout the day including live performances by Lisa Jay, No Direction and Men in Shorts a Bavarian Um Pa band, until the lights are turned on at around 10pm, followed by a fantastic fireworks display after. But the fun doesn’t stop there! The very next day will be Skegness Carnival, with dozens of floats dressed up to parade around the streets of Skegness with colourful characters, costumes and lots of music and entertainment. ….but before all of that, Skegness celebrates Lifeboat week from 20th – 25th July. The Lifeboat volunteers will be out in force during the week with the 16ft model of the Lincolnshire Poacher made by the Hildreds Centre staff, talking to visitors to Skegness and collecting money for this vital service. Jolly John, the Hildreds life-size animated Coxswain will also be in the centre singing sea shanties and telling stories to people as they walk past. Don’t forget to pop a coin or two into his pot for good luck! We hope to see you all there for a fun packed weekend for the whole family. Keep posted for more news!
