We hope you will be able to join us on Thursday 24th November from 6pm when the entertainment starts outside the Hildreds Centre. The illuminated Christmas parade will leave Briar way at around 6.20pm and travel up High Street and down Lumley Road being led by the Lincolnshire Cola Truck and of course Santa. Keep an eye open for Captain Hook and Mr Smee who will also be in the parade and up to no good. The parade will stop outside the town Christmas Tree by the central stage. The festivities will start with a proclamation from the Town Crier, followed by The Mayor of Skegness Cllr Dick Edginton. Captain Hook, Mr Smee and Santa will then take over the stage ably assisted by Rob Hammond Breakfast presenter from Lincs FM who will perform the countdown and help to switch on both the town lights and the Hildreds award winning displays at 7pm.
After the switch on, it will snow, buckets of the stuff along to festive music, choirs and Coastal Linx Radio will continue to play throughout the night until 9pm.
The Peter Pan and the Pirates from Neverland Christmas Grotto will be open from 7;15pm but you will have to pre book to see Santa on the night. All of the characters will be there including the crocodile, watch out for him! You can walk through Captain Hook’s pirate galleon, fire cannon and hear the pirates in the galley before stepping into Santa’s enchanted grotto. Don’t forget, the grotto is managed by The Skegness carnival and every penny that they take from the grotto goes towards putting on the Skegness Carnival Parade and week long events next year.
If you then walk down the mall towards the car park, you will meet Zachariah, Santa’s relief reindeer, but he won’t be helping Santa this year because he has had a little accident when the stable door bashed him on his nose!
Come and meet Eric, Ernie and Enry our 3 Eskimo friends along with Hettie the Yeti in our award winning displays.
Pick up a Christmas colouring competition form for a chance to win some fantastic seasonal prizes or post a letter to Santa in Percy the Post box.
We hope you can make it, come and have some fun, make memories and don’t forget to share them on our Facebook page too 🙂
